Patios in Fareham

Helyers of Hampshire design and build patios across Fareham as part of the wider garden, not as a slab dropped onto the lawn. We are an RHS award-winning garden design and landscaping team, so the patio gets sized, positioned and detailed to work with the planting, levels and the way you actually use the space.

Patios Built for Fareham Ground

Much of Fareham sits on clay that holds water through winter. A patio laid straight onto that without a proper compacted sub-base and correct falls will move, pond and stain within a couple of seasons. We excavate to depth, build the base properly and set falls that take water away from the house.

Patio Materials We Lay

  • Porcelain – dense, frost-proof and low-maintenance, with almost no fading
  • Indian sandstone – warm natural stone, riven or sawn finish
  • Limestone & slate – contemporary, even colour and a crisp edge
  • Block paving – hard-wearing and easy to repair in sections
  • Steps, edges and retaining – built in where levels change
  • Full sub-base and falls – compacted base, correct drainage falls, sealed joints

For patio-only projects, our specialist sister site Hampshire Patio Services covers paving in more depth. This page is for patios designed and built as part of your wider garden.

Common Questions

How much does a patio cost in Fareham?
It depends on size, material and how much excavation and level change is involved. We price after a free site visit and give a fixed written quote.

Porcelain or natural stone?
Porcelain is denser, frost-proof and barely fades, so it stays looking new with less work. Natural sandstone has more character and variation. We will show you both on site.

Will my patio go green?
Any patio will grow algae in shade and damp. Porcelain resists it best, and correct falls that stop water sitting make the biggest difference.

Do I need planning permission for a patio?
Normally no for a garden patio at ground level. Raised patios and decking over 30cm can need permission, and we will flag it if so.

Also in Fareham: landscaping, fencing and artificial grass.
