Artificial grass has come a long way from the plastic-looking, bright-green turf of the past. Modern artificial lawns are designed to closely replicate the look and feel of real grass — and for many Hampshire homeowners, they offer significant practical advantages:
- No mowing, watering, or feeding – Once laid, artificial grass requires minimal ongoing maintenance. No weekend mowing, no summer watering restrictions, and no seasonal feeding regime.
- Stays green all year – Unlike natural grass, which can turn brown in dry summers and become muddy and worn in wet winters, artificial grass looks pristine in every season.
- Ideal for shaded areas – Natural grass struggles under heavy tree canopy or on north-facing plots. Artificial grass thrives anywhere, regardless of light levels.
- Safe and durable – Modern artificial turf is specifically designed to handle heavy use from children and pets, with non-toxic materials and a cushioned underlay for comfort.
- Cost-effective long term – Although the initial investment is higher than seeding or turfing, the absence of ongoing maintenance costs means artificial grass typically pays for itself within 3–5 years.
Yes — modern artificial grass is specifically designed with families and pets in mind.
The products we install are manufactured from non-toxic, child-safe materials and are tested to meet European safety standards. The infill materials we use help the grass drain quickly after rain, preventing pooling and keeping the surface clean.
For pets, artificial grass is a particularly popular choice. Dogs and cats can use it freely, and any mess can be rinsed away easily. There is no risk of grass staining on paws, no muddy patches brought into the house, and no brown patches caused by pet urine — which is a common problem with natural lawns.
The underlay system we install also provides a degree of impact absorption, making the surface more comfortable for play and reducing the risk of minor injury from falls.
A properly installed artificial lawn requires careful groundwork. Cutting corners at this stage is the most common reason artificial lawns fail prematurely — either through drainage problems, uneven surfaces, or instability. Our installation process ensures a long-lasting, professional result:
- Site clearance – Existing lawn, turf, and any weeds are fully removed to the correct depth (typically 75–100mm).
- Sub-base preparation – A compacted layer of MOT Type 1 crushed stone is laid and levelled to create a stable, free-draining base.
- Weed membrane – A high-quality weed membrane is laid over the sub-base to prevent regrowth.
- Turf fitting – The artificial turf is cut precisely to shape, fitted tightly against all edges, and secured with fixing pins or adhesive joins as required.
- Edging and finishing – Neat, secure edging is fitted to all borders for a clean, finished look. We brush in kiln-dried sand infill where required to help the pile stand upright.
Most residential artificial lawn installations are completed within 1 to 3 days depending on the area.
